Press & Radio & TV presence in the Kinderland
What a media hype the new alpine dry ski slope run in the children's area of the adventure mountain ski resort Hocheck in Oberaudorf has caused. On January 20, the first alpine dry slope (approx. 80m long and 7.25m wide) from Skitrax World in Bavaria was presented to the press. The Top on Snow ski school, together with some children and experienced ski instructors, laid out a small course on the mats, which was enthusiastically received by the children. The children and ski instructors were rather skeptical when they made their first turns on the unfamiliar surface. Since it had snowed a few inches in the days before, the skiers were able to ski on the slightly sugared dry slope. After a few runs, enthusiasm grew to be able to ski with a lot of fun even without snow. Comfortably, the skiers were brought back to the start by a conveyor belt. The children were happy to "board" down the slope again.

Editors from radio stations (Charivari, Antenne Bayern, BR1 etc.), the well-known newspapers (SZ, FAZ, Bild, OVB, DPA, Merkur etc.) and press services (Reuters, DPA etc.) and top TV station teams (RTL, Sat1, ARD, Bild TV, Servus TV, BR, Servus TV Österreich, Servus TV Magazin Deutschland, Reuters TV, Network Pictures, Oya-Media etc.) were partly already in our office since the middle of the week. Here they filmed for hours and answered questions. TV interviews were conducted about the company Skitrax World, the origin of the idea of mat skiing, details about the largest mat ski slope in the world with 19,000 m2 in Lviv and other domestic and foreign installations.
Why dry slope skiing?
Hundreds of ski resorts in Germany are located below about 900m and did not have enough natural snow until mid-January 2023. Due to the high temperatures, it was also mostly not possible to produce artificial snow to be able to start a skiing operation.
Key questions from media representatives were:
- Is this the future of alpine skiing?
- Are the mats ski slopes only a temporary addition to compensate for the lack of snow?
- Are mats just an alternative or even the future?
- What are the consequences of the lack of snow in the ski resorts for the local population and tourism?
- Does it make sense to install mats in front of longer slopes (e.g. 500m or longer), because then also the
advanced skiers or boarders?
- How sustainable is the production of the mats? You can find more information about this here: Corporate mission
Answers to these burning questions about the future of winter/snow tourism were given and presented accordingly in the media. We will still report on it in a separate press release.
Estimated media presence through TV alone: at least 10 million viewers.
