Kinderskiland offers ski/board safety even without snow.
If you look back at the last decades, you could always count on enough snow for a good skiing operation at Erlebnisberg Hocheck in Oberaudorf (GER) from New Year at the latest. Not this year, because the warm weather did not allow the entire ski area to operate until now. Despite perfect infrastructure for artificial snowmaking with a large reservoir, pumping station and more than 40 snow lances - at temperatures of over 10-15 degrees, sufficient snow production was not possible.
Two conveyor belts and a rope lift are available in the Kinderland - but have also not been in operation since the beginning of the season due to the lack of snow. At short notice, the managing director of Hocheck Bergbahn, Hannes Rechenauer, and the managing director Wolfgang Schmidt of Skitrax World agreed to install an alpine dry slope area by Skitrax World on a 50m-long conveyor belt with Slopetrax sliding mats at the beginning of the new year.
Fresh from production, the Slopetrax sliding mats were delivered at short notice and prepared for installation by the staff. Appropriate ground fleece was laid out and the mats were fastened with sturdy ground nails. The ground was not frozen through due to the warm weather of the last weeks and so the installation of the approx. 600 m2 large dry slope run could be carried out smoothly.
Thus the Kinderland in the ski area Erlebnisberg Hocheck offers the possibility for ski schools to offer ski lessons for children. The local ski school "Top on Mountain" will immediately incorporate this possibility into its training programme.
Further expansion in the upper part of the ski area is planned for the autumn, so that here in Oberaudorf, ski operations can start on mats as early as October.
Below is an interview by Radio Charivari with Hannes Rechenauer on the new Matten ski area in the Kinderland and the future prospects.
First video shows the excellent possibilities to ski / board perfectly even without snow. Regional radio stations have already reported on the first mat ski slope in Bavaria.
The Bayrischer Rundfunk has already been on site with a TV team.
In "Kontrovers", the report on Skitrax World will be broadcast on Bavarian television on 18 January at 9:15 pm.
