New US freestyle water ramp under construction
Canandaigua becomes freestyle hotspot.
Near the town of Canandaigua is the well-known winter sports resort of Bristol Mountain (NY), located in the eastern USA. Not far south of Lake Ontario, a new freestyle water jump will be built there in the summer of 2021. Primarily designed for freestylers and slopestylers, the facility will use approximately 230 m2 of Watertrax sliding mats in white and red. The jump will be about 12m high, with a planned approach of 30m to the jump table and then it will go from about 5m directly into the water of the mountain lake.
More information will follow.

Grand final on the Golden Coast in Australia. For the first time, an FIS Freestyle Ski Summer Grand Prix took place on 09 September 2023 on the world's largest freestyle water jump, in Brisbane, Australia. Approximately 1800m2 of Watertrax glide mats from Skitrax World have been laid out here in recent years. Because of the warm temperatures, training can take place here all year round. No wonder that the Australian freestylers are among the best in the world.

Winter sports as an attractive year-round offer. Will there soon be alpine theme parks near major cities? It would be feasible in Zuerich, Hamburg, Vienna, Paris or Milan, but also in Singapore, Djakarta, Beijing, Los Angeles, Nairobi, Saigon and Santiago de Chile. When the snow is replaced by Skitrax sliding mats, nothing stands in the way of sliding, carving, gliding, lifting, drifting.

$6.4 million freestyle facility in Australia. A new $6.4 million training facility for freestylers has opened in Brisbane, AUS. The mega freestyle water jump will serve as the perfect training centre for athletes for the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. This new facility is the only year-round outdoor facility in the Southern Hemisphere. Skitrax management became involved in the project about 10 years ago. After several changes in the project management and in the funding ministry of sports, the facility could now be opened after a good one-year construction period.
Perfect training in the summer for freestylers. In Slovakia, near Bratislava, a professional alpine slopestyle facility with an air bag was built. Here slope stylers can jump with skis or snowboard into a big air bag. Two facilities were built. A smaller facility for jumping into a big air bag. A 30 m long approach brings the right speed to the kicker. Then there is no turning back - whether with a straight jump or with somersault forward, backward or double cork - you land softly in the air bag. A second facility has a double approach, each with a jump into a long airbag that gently catches even risky jumps.

Preparing for the Olympic Games. Abbey Willcox is 24 years old, comes from Australia and is one of the world's best aerials athletes. She is a member of the "Flying Kangaroos" aerial ski team with Danielle Scott, Gabi Ash and Airleigh Frigo, who were the first to test the facility. She narrates in a video her training work on the new freestyle water jump in Brisbane, opened at a cost of $6.4 million in the summer of 2020. Very important to her is the preparation in the summer on the jump with the Watertrax sliding mats to be able to show perfect jumps in the snow in the winter.
