7 new ramps in Park City.
With a total cost of $3 million, the largest freestyle water jump in the world is currently being completely renovated in Park City (Utah USA). The "Project Big Air" includes seven new jumps for the disciplines, moguls, freeski, snowboard, aerial and big air. More than 500 athletes from the various U.S. national teams and many foreign national teams regularly train here during the summer season.
The old facility has produced top local athletes such as 2014 Olympic champions Joss Christensen and Sage Kotsenberg, and now provides the latest standard for youth to train at with the new, modern facility. The rapid development of slopestyle ski & snowboard made it necessary to realign the ski jump facilities to meet the growing demands. A new type of oxygen bubble system at the bottom of the huge water basin, gives the athletes a soft landing into the water even from great heights.
The whole "Project Big Air" was started by a big fundraising campaign last year, in order to continue to offer world-class training opportunities, especially for the local youth. Within a short time, the funding could be secured through donations.
Skitrax World again supplies the durable plastic mats WaterTrax "Made in Germany" for the largest outdoor freestyle water jump in the world. The opening jump is scheduled for June 27, 2015.
